IPMA, the method beyond. Project managers distinguish themselves not only by knowing a methodology, but also by demonstrating effective behaviour. At IPMA, the focus is on the development of competences, defined in the International Competence Baseline (ICB), released by IPMA Switzerland. Competencies, for example, in the field of communication skills, legislation and regulations, working with teams, negotiation, conflict management, leadership, financial management and presentation skills.
The IPMA certification of these competencies is a globally recognized standard for project manager quality in four levels:
D: Certified Project Management Associate
C: Certified Project Manager
B: Certified Senior Project Manager
A: Certified Project Director
The training is given by an experienced and certified trainer and advisor.
Content of the training
The first two days (4 half-days) deal with the basics of PRINCE2. You will discover the specific PRINCE2 approach to projects at a brisk pace. We pay extra attention to the Business Case, to roles in projects and to planning project work. In our PRINCE2 Foundation training you will learn how all PRINCE2 elements are related and mutually reinforcing. This training is necessary in preparation for the IPMA training and prepares you for the PRINCE2 Foundation exam. Taking this exam is optional.
The IPMA Fasttrack training is built around the 28 ICB4 competencies. In the training, we standardly discuss the competencies that are largely tested in the exam and we make a choice with the participants from the remaining competencies, based on their needs.
The competences that are not covered are studied by the participants outside the training, supported by the e-learning environment. The IPMA B/C/D Fasttrack training assumes that participants are familiar with the PRINCE2 methodology at Foundation level.
Trainers experienced in project management link the theory of project management to practice. Using case studies, discussions, role plays, group assignments and homework assignments, participants are trained in applying theory in practice.
To be able to certify at B or C level, candidates must have been responsible for projects of a certain size in the role of project manager. The requirements for this experience can be found on the websites www.ipmacertificatie.nl and www.ipma.nl.
The IPMA Fasttrack training is an interactive training in which PRINCE2 certified project managers are trained in the IPMA competencies. This Fasttrack is practice-oriented with room for the practice of competences. You will gain practical skills and prepare for the IPMA certification at B, C or D level. In addition to methodical knowledge, you learn techniques and 'soft skills'. As a result, you learn to deal better with complex project situations.
The IPMA certification (theory and practical exams) is provided in the Netherlands by IPMA Certificering Nederland. For more information about this and about the admission requirements, see the website https://www.ipmacertificeren.nl
