Our consultants speak: Maarten-Jan van Fulpen
Supply Value is an independent consultancy in the field of Procurement, Supply Chain and Digital. Our employees and partners are the basis for our success: as they grow, Supply Value grows as a company.
Curious about what our consultants experience? In this section 'our consultants talk' they share their experiences. This time we introduce Maarten-Jan. Maarten-Jan is a senior consultant and manager in the field of Supply Chain & Operations. He advises on (network) collaboration, organizational structure and performance management. He is also responsible for the Supply Chain and Operations unit and the team of 13 consultants. In this insight, Maarten-Jan explains how he approaches this and what experience helps him in this.
About Maarten-Jan's work as a consultant
I started at Supply Value in January 2021. After I studied Business Administration at Nijenrode and Business Administration at the VU, I was active as a consultant and manager in the field of Organizational Management, Data and Information for 15 years. Think of strategy processes using Business Balanced Scorecards, strategy cards, simulation models, Business Intelligence and Analytics. After that I was director for 8 years at two small very innovative organizations in the field of sensor technology and product development. Cowmanager (Agritech) and FastFocus (eHealth, monitoring). I consciously chose to become a consultant again at a medium-sized consultancy organization. That's how I ended up at Supply Value. The combination of directly helping organizations to improve their performance and at the same time managing a club of young, smart and very ambitious consultants is a very nice mix for me that gives me energy and in which I can continue to learn. Both as a consultant and as a manager I can put my experience to good use, but at the same time I continuously learn from my customers and colleagues. I like working together in teams and coaching and empowering customers and colleagues. I like to guide and coach young professionals in their ambition. I speak the language of the business and understand technical challenges, I am happy to pass that experience on. A people-oriented approach that fits well with Supply Value.
Below is a selection of the assignments that Maarten-Jan has completed so far.
For my recent assignment at i+Solutions I translated the innovative vision and strategy of this medical supply chain management organization into an ICT vision and a concrete ICT improvement plan. We have set up an 'agile' governance structure that fits the dynamics of this rapidly developing organization. The increasingly important contribution of ICT to the success of the organization has been made concrete and communicated. I still guide the Management Team of i+Solutions in the realization and help colleagues from Supply Value with various projects.
As a consultant and project manager I am responsible for the implementation, organization and improvement of Supply Chain optimization for a large Japanese organization in yacht building. We help to optimally coordinate the Supply and Demand planning.
As a consultant, business architect and project manager I was responsible for the drafting of a target architecture and the package selection of a new ECD for VVT organization De Zorgcircle. I thought it was very nice and instructive to use my knowledge of processes in healthcare in this way. The Supply Value team is now proceeding with the implementation of the selected ECD.
For Zeeman, I and a team translated the corporate strategy into an IT vision, strategy and change program and a Supply Chain Strategy that will enable the further growth and development of Zeeman. For both projects we concretized the strategic contribution and together we determined a new organizational structure, improved processes and KPI tree. Extremely challenging and interesting to be able to do this for a successful international retail organization like Zeeman.
